Share-A-Gift is an all-volunteer annual holiday project that has provided toys, bikes, and books for children of low income families in the area of the Boulder Valley School District (Colorado) since 1972. We have an all-volunteer Board of Directors and many long-time supporters.

In 2011, over 600 families representing over 1600 girls and boys in the Boulder area, birth to age 14, received these community donations. Plus, donated gifts that did not find a home with a family by the end of our toy distribution are given to other non-profit organizations that help families-in-need. With the generous donations of Boulder families, businesses, churches, schools and residents this year, we were also able to help over 275 families and over 640 children on the western slope of Colorad0, plus 100 children in Pine Ridge, SD.

Share-A-Gift Has Another Successful Season!

Today, December 17th, 2011, Share-A-Gift, with the help of many participants distrbuted toys to several hundred Boulder area families-in-need. Thanks to all our donors, volunteers, supporters, friends, families, and others who made this a successful year! Volunteers Still Needed for Toy Shop Distribution Day

Share-A-Gift has filled it’s need for volunteers during the Toy Shop Setup Days, but we still have plenty of spaces (and need) for volunteers on the AFTERNOON of our Toy Distribution. On this one single day, this year

Saturday, December 17

parents of families-in-need leave their children with childcare, and come ”shop” and select donated toys for their children, given free-of-charge.

Volunteers age 15 or above are needed to help at registration and checkout, to help with traffic and crowd flow, to serve as shopping assistants in helping parents find just the right toys for their children, and to help take toys to the parents’ cars.

Spanish (bi-lingual++) speakers are particularly helpful!

Unfortunately, we do not allow children under 15 years old to volunteer on this day of the Toy Shop Distribution. We do ask that volunteers that help distribute toys be at least 15 years old because we give toys to kids with ages birth through 14 years old.

This is our most rewarding opportunity to help families-in-need. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for morning or afternoon shifts with our Volunteer Coordinator (signup on our registration page).

Through Friday, December 23rd, 2011, when you purchase a New Belgium Brewing product at Applebee’s of Boulder, for $5.50, you get to keep the glass and refills are $3. For each glass sold, Applebee’s of Boulder and New Belgium Brewing will donate $1 to Share-A-Gift.
